Asian Green Beans, Soyaki Pork Tenderloin & Grilled Pineapple-- Very easy!

Here's another recipe that I posted over a year ago.  It's no big surprise that I never got a comment on it-- the photo... it's dark, and it's just not pretty-- and I deleted them, forever!  I decided to to take new photos by making these green beans, along with a grilled pork tenderloin that I marinated in Soyaki Sauce (from Trader Joe's) and some grilled pineapple spears.  I'm cooking in real time, folks!  I'm still digesting this dinner, as I type!

Cook the green beans in a pot of boiling salted water until JUST crisp-tender (about 3 minutes) plunge into an ice water bath to cool completely.  You'll want to drain the green beans, and pat them dry.  You can this in advance, by the way.  The ingredients you need are rice vinegar, sesame oil, soy sauce and garlic (or, I use Chili Garlic Sauce for extra kick) and brown sugar.  You might want cornstarch and water, whisked together, in case you like a thicker sauce.  Oh, sesame seeds are nice as a garnish...or not.

Heat sesame oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat; add in garlic and chili flakes (if using-- or Chili Garlic Sauce) and stir-fry 1 minute. Add in beans and stir-fry for about 2 minutes. Add in soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar and black pepper; cook until the sauce reduces slightly and coats the beans (about 1-1/2-2 minutes longer). If you want a thick sauce mix a small amount of cornstarch with a small amount of cold water and add in towards the end.

Add in the almonds or sesame seeds; toss to coat and transfer to a bowl.  Easy and so good!  The chili peppers definitely give this a bite... leave it out, if you don't like food to be really spicy!  I like this recipe a lot, so I might vary using snow peas or even broccoli.

The main course was a pork tenderloin that I marinated with Soyaki Sauce.  I buy this at Trader Joe's and it's an excellent marinade-- it has soy sauce, ginger, garlic, pineapple, garlic, sesame... it's just great stuff, and I hope you can get your hands on it.  I marinate this last night.  I also had some pineapple spears that I grilled, and lightly sprinkled some fine sugar over, so it would caramelize.  Pork & pineapple goes great together!

The pork was grilled to 155F (about 20-25 minutes) and left to rest for about 15 minutes.  If it looks a little too pink for you, figure 30 minutes to about 165F. This was a fast week night meal. The whole meal cost less than $10.00 for four people.  Loved it!

Who says you can only grill outdoors?  My cast iron stovetop griddle does a nice job, as long as the fan is running at full speed!  I'm including this recipe for my son's beginner recipe cookbook I'm putting together. The green beans are one of his many favorite dishes.  I have to admit, we like it a lot, too.

Off to sleep and onto the rest of the work week!  Pssssssssssst, the printable recipe is at the bottom of this page.

Goodnight,

  3. I wish we had a Trader Joe's around here. I've never even been to one and that makes me a little sad. One of these days...

You know, I don't really like green beans. I eat them but they're not my favorites. I think it's a texture thing becaue I eat them and they squeak in between my teeth. Is that weird?

That pork on the other hand looks awesome!

  5. Debby, this all looks so amazingly delicious. I love all the flavors you have going on and the pork tenderloins look like they are cooked to perfection.

When is Steve Jobs at Apple going to invent a "FoodPod" that allows you to sent this dinner over to my table?

  10. You could always marinate butterflied chicken or just slice the pork tenderloin much thinner. We love pork tenderloin because it's tender and not that expensive-- and it's much leaner than pork chops.

  12. Hi sweet Debby! I have been WONDERING where you have been. I read about the troubles you had with the copying of your blog; how horrible! Hey, I just posted a tid bit more about Mojo today and a mention of our fave eye candy chef, Tyler Florence. So stop by a give his version a look. When I get home from work tonight (I'm in between classes), I'll stop by and pick up your blog button to put in a nice place on my blog! Glad you did that! Love, Roz

  13. Yum, this looks like an excellent meal all the way around! I've tried similar green beans but am going to give your version a try.

Did you grill your pineapple in the same pan as the pork? Is that even allowed? I'm always paranoid at getting the kids sick. :) Thanks, Debby!

  14. The new pics look great! I really need to do that with all of my old pictures. THey are super terrible - I can't believe I used think they looked okay.

I need to try that soyaki sauce from TJ's - sounds delicious.

  15. Ingrid, that's a valid question. I seared the pork, evenly and grilled the pineapple towards the last 5 minutes of cooking time. By then, on the high heat of the griddle, I think it's safe. I do it on the outdoor BBQ grill, too! But, I never re-use the marinade. That would scare me!

  20. I've never been a TJ shopper and think that I need to correct that. Your dinner looks so delicious and the beans are a must try (with the chili flakes).

  21. Love the beans. They're an easy vegetable to cook, but they can be tiresome if you don't get creative with them. This is a great recipe.

That pork looks wonderful. I have used TJ's soyaki sauce in the past and you definitely motivated me to try it again. I'm afraid I can't grill indoors too easily though. Even with the fan on, the smoke gets crazy in my tiny kitchen. I have to wait for warmer weather when I can oopen the doors to grill (I don't have a yard, so I don't grill outdoors).
