Sucré Sweet Boutique Giveaway

I can't remember the first time I fell in-love with Macarons, but that love has never faded.  They're so pretty and classy looking!  The classic cookies is made with almond flour, sugar and egg whites.  They are filled with a limitless variety of fillings, from lemon curd to glorious buttercreams. Sounds simple, yes?  Most pastry chefs will tell you that they can be a bit fussy to make, especially being able to achieve the signature "feet" in the cookie.   It is said that these cookies originated in Italy, yet some claims are that this is a French cookie. I just know that the macaron has become a coveted cookie, especially in France where Parisian bakeries fill their display cases with macarons in a rainbow of colors. Oh, how I dream of experiencing that first-hand! Someday.

Making my own Macarons is on my Recipe Bucket List.   In the meantime, I'm always game to treat myself to a bakery made macarons. Alas, there aren't many bakeries in my hometown who makes them.

So, when the nice folks at the Sucré Sweet Boutique contacted me, and offered to let me try their Macarons, I didn't hesitate to say "yes, please"!

A few days later, a lovely box of Valentine's themed macarons arrived, from New Orleans!

I was impressed at how they arrived so intact. Aren't they beautiful?

As the card says, these were filled with while chocolate and a raspberry mousseline (buttercream).

Just as I had hoped, they were delicate, and lightly sweet.  What a treat!  My son had never tried a Macaron, so I let him eat one. Then he ate two... and reached for number three.  I had to set my boundaries, that these were to share, though.
The enclosed card says these can be refrigerated for up to a week. Are you kidding? These were gone in two days, and I think my son ate the majority of them.

Many things I'd like to try but their macarons are at the top of the list. I've made them twice- both times acceptable but I'm aiming for spectacular. It's definitely an art to get the shell and feet just right. Thanks for sharing Sucre ;-)

Hi, there..........

Someone has to taste-test some other macarons, just to make sure they're all up to quality standards, so waiting for you at Bechler's in PG will be a plate of them. Go when you have a second, or better yet an hour of so. Ask for Natalie and she'll make sure you have samples of whatever flavor Gerard has in the offing. She'll know I sent you and enjoy the moment! You do such a lot for other people (and I've used more than a few of your suggestions/recipes, so this is just a small way to thank you. MMR

I wish Pennsylvania didn't have such arcane laws re shipping wine, or I'd order the Signature Collection + Perrier Jouet. That page offers great ideas for wine pairings.
