Making my own Macarons is on my Recipe Bucket List. In the meantime, I'm always game to treat myself to a bakery made macarons. Alas, there aren't many bakeries in my hometown who makes them.
So, when the nice folks at the Sucré Sweet Boutique contacted me, and offered to let me try their Macarons, I didn't hesitate to say "yes, please"!
A few days later, a lovely box of Valentine's themed macarons arrived, from New Orleans!
Just as I had hoped, they were delicate, and lightly sweet. What a treat! My son had never tried a Macaron, so I let him eat one. Then he ate two... and reached for number three. I had to set my boundaries, that these were to share, though.
The enclosed card says these can be refrigerated for up to a week. Are you kidding? These were gone in two days, and I think my son ate the majority of them.
Sucré Sweet Boutiques and Confection Studio are located in New Orleans, Louisiana and offer the definitive dessert and confection experience.
Founded by Chef/Restaurateur/Entrepreneur Joel Dondis and pastry Chef Tariq Hanna in 2007, Sucré has quickly become a cherished local landmark in a city with a rich culinary history.
Sucré offers guests a variety of confectionary delights, all made in their New Orleans based confection studio. From French macaroons to salted caramel cupcakes to petit red velvet cakes - each offering is confectionary perfection. Gelato is homemade using first-cut Louisiana cane sugar, milk from local dairies and the finest ingredients. Artisan chocolates are made celebrating local flavors such as the Blangé - a white chocolate ganache with banana and rum enrobed in white gourmet chocolate or the Meuniére - brown butter folded into white chocolate ganache enrobed in dark chocolate or the Chicory - New Orleans' favorite coffee folded into a dark chocolate ganache enrobed in dark chocolate. Hot drinking chocolate features homemade marshmallows flavored with Tahitian vanilla. Visitors to Sucré can stay to enjoy dessert or they can take home their own chocolate gifts.
If you’re in the mood to try some of the world’s best chocolate almond toffee, let Sucré treat you to its delectable crunchy butter almond toffee, enrobed in dark chocolate and adorned with delicate roasted almond slivers. Go ahead; indulge your sweet tooth – without the guilt! Discover what many New Orleans locals already know: Sucré Southern Candied Pecans are an irresistible treat for any day of the week. Throw your own unforgettable Mardi Gras party, wherever you live in the United States! Just be sure that whoever gets the invite knows where to order their own authentic, delicious king cake & macarons... right here at Sucré.
I would love to try their famous King Cake. Voted "A Favorite" By The
Times Picayune 2012 King Cake Contest and 2011 "BEST" King Cake by a
Washington Post blind taste test. Sucre's signature buttery danish pastry is
sweetened by cinnamon and raw cane sugar then folded with a light layer of
creole cream cheese. (Serves 8-10 people.)

Many things I'd like to try but their macarons are at the top of the list. I've made them twice- both times acceptable but I'm aiming for spectacular. It's definitely an art to get the shell and feet just right. Thanks for sharing Sucre ;-)

The caramel and brown butter collection sounds delicious to me!
Hi, there..........
Someone has to taste-test some other macarons, just to make sure they're all up to quality standards, so waiting for you at Bechler's in PG will be a plate of them. Go when you have a second, or better yet an hour of so. Ask for Natalie and she'll make sure you have samples of whatever flavor Gerard has in the offing. She'll know I sent you and enjoy the moment! You do such a lot for other people (and I've used more than a few of your suggestions/recipes, so this is just a small way to thank you. MMR
Well, how would one EVER choose - what a gorgeous collection. Let's say the Surprise Easter Basket.
I retweeted your contest tweet. What is your Twitter handle? Somehow I can't find you...

I want them. I want all of them. I think I would like to try the signature kind, so I could savor each flavor and refuse to share them. No, I am not ashamed.

I wish Pennsylvania didn't have such arcane laws re shipping wine, or I'd order the Signature Collection + Perrier Jouet. That page offers great ideas for wine pairings.
I would love to try the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter & Milk Chocolate Southern Pecan Eggs
