Fall Roundup 2012 - and the Recipe Reader Giveaway Winner Is...

Living on the Central Coast of California is our piece of Paradise. I love it here. Buuuuuuut, we don't truly experience the four seasons. Summer temperatures average a perfect 75 degrees. Homes don't have air conditioning. Fall is also a lot different than the East Coast. Fall, on the Monterey Bay, typically becomes our "Secret Summer".

Like today-- it's almost 7:00pm and it's 70 degrees outside. Nice!  I can, still,  get away with wearing flip-flops. But the nights...well, the winds from the Monterey Bay ocean along with the coast fog brings cooler nights in our backyard.

This is the time of year when I make soups, and bread.  It's pumpkin and apple time, too!

I love making soups.  They're my ultimate comfort food, along with a salad and some fresh bread.

Homemade Dinner Rolls In An Hour-- for real! Easy to do!

Leave room for some Fall Desserts:

If you can still find "Italian Prunes", this Plum and Fig Galette is easy to make. Love it!

Whether it's warm or cold outside, I'm always in the mood for Pumpkin Custard Ice Cream!

In two weeks, I'm having our Annual Oktoberfest at home:

For heaven's sake! No, those aren't my real "knoedel's"! It's a printed vest!

I would like to thank "Key Ingredient" for sponsoring a giveaway of their new Digital Recipe Reader.
I'm a big fan of Pinterest, as a way to save recipes that I want to save, hoping I'll get around to making them (if I live to be 200 years old!)

I use Key Ingredient as my way of storing recipes that I'm really serious about making-- or recipes that I've already made, and want to keep.  It is very easy to create a recipe card.  If you have a food blog, you can easily "embed" their recipe cards to your blog. Best of all, it's free!

I love my Recipe Reader, because I can sync all of my Key Ingredient recipes into this digital recipe box-- wirelessly, and automatically!   You can buy one of these for $199.99-- and I can assure you that this is money well spent. No more binders to keep on a bookshelf, or above the refrigerator.  You will never have to search for a recipe from a stack of papers.

One person is going to be very happy, because he/she has won a Recipe Reader. I used Random.org  and the winner is------ Roz, who happens to have a blog called "La Bella Vita".  Congratulation, Roz!  Please email me at foodiewife@gmail.com so I can get your shipping address. Key Ingredient will send your Recipe Reader out to you, right away!  I can't wait to hear how much you love this digital recipe box!

  3. Lucky you - perfect weather is better than 4 seasons because at least 2 of them are not so great.

Nice comforting dishes and I love your photo and comment!

  4. The Pumpkin/Apple soup sounds delis - I'm just waiting for the weather to cool off! Yeah - you get a breeze, but we're just down the way and though it's gotten cooler, I can't see any of our fog out there yet.

Going to try and rolls - anything that's easy and looks that great has to be yummy. Glad I stopped by. Have a great week - tomorrow it's supposed to be back in the 60's.
